Michael Minns established his Human Resources consultancy in 1983 specialising in recruitment, Enterprise Agreements, organisational development, learning & development to develop a productive workplace culture in Greenfield and Brownfield sites.
Michael has developed a Three-dimensional Selection System which differs from traditional selection processes on a number of important counts:
• allows for multiple hiring
• peers and mine managers are utilised in the recruitment process
• the critical competency dimensions are
- Behaviours, attitude and values
- Individual skills and/or trainability, and
- Personal motivation and cultural fit
A guiding principle is to hire for attitude first not skills – this is a valuable approach in the current skills shortage impacting on coal mine operations in NSW and Queensland.
